Skip to main contentHotkey Not Working
If the global hotkey isn’t triggering a capture:
- Check if the app is running: Look for the Screention icon in your system tray.
- Key conflict: Another application might be using the same hotkey. Try changing it in Settings.
- Restart: Sometimes a simple restart of the app resolves global shortcut registration issues.
Screen Black/Blank on Capture (macOS)
If your screen goes black or you only see a desktop background without windows when capturing on macOS:
- Open System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Screen Recording.
- Ensure Screention is checked.
- If it is already checked, uncheck it and check it again.
- Restart Screention for the permission to re-initialize.
App Doesn’t Start Automatically
If “Launch at startup” is enabled but not working:
- Windows: Check Task Manager -> Startup apps to ensure it’s not disabled there.
- Linux: Check your distribution’s “Startup Applications” preferences.
- Generally: Toggle the setting OFF and then ON again in Screention Settings to re-register the startup entry.
