After installing Screention, there are a few settings you might want to configure to optimize your experience.

Auto-Start

By default, Screention does not start with your computer. To ensure it’s always ready to capture:
  1. Open the main window (click the tray icon or launch from app menu).
  2. Go to the Settings tab.
  3. Toggle the Launch at startup switch to On.
Screention will now start automatically in the background (minimized to tray) when you log in.

Check Your Hotkey

The default global hotkey to take a screenshot is:
  • Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Alt + A
  • macOS: Cmd + Option + A
You can verify or change this in the Settings tab. See Settings for more details.

Permissions (macOS)

On macOS, Screention requires Screen Recording permission to capture your screen.
  1. When you first try to take a screenshot, macOS will prompt you to grant permission.
  2. Click Open System Settings.
  3. Enable the toggle for Screention under Screen Recording.
  4. You may need to restart the app for changes to take effect.
