Once you’ve selected an area to capture, the annotation toolbar appears at the bottom of the selection.

Color Palette

Screention v0.4.0 introduces a refined color palette with 12 professional colors, designed to look great on any background.
  • Default Color: Electric Blue (#18dcff)
  • Selection: Click any color circle in the toolbar to switch instantly.

Undo and Redo

Use Ctrl/Cmd + Z to undo an annotation and Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Z to redo it.

Actions

When you’re done editing, choose your action:

Copy (Clipboard)

Copies the image to your clipboard.
  • Note: This does NOT save the image to your gallery.
  • Useful for quick sharing in chat or email.
  • Closes the capture window immediately.

Save (Gallery)

Saves the image to your local gallery.
  • File location: ~/.screention/screenshots/
  • Opens the Gallery window so you can see your saved file.

Resetting

Made a mistake?
  • Clear All: Resets all annotations AND your selection region, letting you start fresh without closing the overlay.
  • Escape Key: Cancels the capture entirely.
